Looks like Mother Nature has blessed us again with a large snow dump just before the holiday weekend.I'm now calling it the Rangeley Lakes Lake Effect.  Much like the Great Lakes, in that we always seem to get a few more inches of snow than everyone else.  In fact, people think we are lying when we report more than the other mountains, but I can assure you, Jared Emerson is probably the most trustworthy person I know. It would be fun to get some graduate students to do a study on this phenomenon, it would make for an interesting thesis.

With all this snow, our property maintenance crews have been working around the clock getting the snow into piles so there is plenty of room in the parking lots for another exciting weekend at Saddleback.  Mountain Operations has been non-stop making sure we can provide the best conditions possible.  Reservations says we only have only a couple of lodging options left.

As of tonight, some folks have already arrived and are enjoying the first of Sushi Thursdays in the Pub.

Jared Emerson and his crew are preparing for our first Friday Night Lights Rail Jam from 4pm to 8pm. A time to come have fun on the rails. Lights, music, food, and beverages!  No ticket necessary.

It will be a great family day with Do You "Know the Code" Scavenger Hunt will take place from 10-2pm.  Create your National Kids' Safety Poster. You can pick up your instructions at Snowflake Central in the lobby of the Base Lodge.  Last year one of the National Winners was from Saddleback!

This week the après ski Children's Art Class on Saturday will feature color mixing and painting. The classes are taught by local artist, Saskia Haugen-Reinholt. She has been teaching art classes to children and adults for 13 years. Currently she operates her own art gallery and classroom studio in Kingfield, Maine. To see some of her artwork and student projects visit www.twinspirations.us.
